Port St. Joe, FL is a beautiful place, especially in October. Blast on the Bay is a smallish songwriter festival, (they call it 'boutique') which is part of it's charm, but it's not going to stay that way long if word keeps getting out. This was their 8th year, and they had over 30 songwriters, the largest group yet. Most are from Nashville, and quite a few have won Grammys and other awards.
Edward had a great time playing. So many fans and songwriters remembered him from last year, and almost every one said they hoped he'd be back in 2017. He'd love that, too.
Once BotB ended, Edward headed to From the Heart Studio in Sopchoppy, FL. He and producer Rick Ott worked on several songs, new and old. He had quite a productive trip!
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************
Last year, Edward was one of 10 acts selected to perform at the first Emerging Talent Showcase during Blast on the Bay, a songwriters festival that is going into it's 8th year. He won the showcase, and among the long list of prizes were two that he had to wait until now to claim. First, he is included in this year's songwriter rounds, performing alongside some of the biggest and best writers from Nashville all weekend! Second, he will be going into a recording session at From the Heart Studio!
If you are anywhere near the Florida panhandle, please come down to Port St. Joe for Blast on the Bay. The festival runs Thursday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 23, and all events are FREE!

The Montgomery Advertiser had Edward in for an interview and a mini concert while he was back in Alabama last month. Here's the link to the article and video.

Massachusetts may be where he lives now, but Alabama will always be Edward's home. He's heading south again for a few shows in August, so mark your calendars and tell your friends!
Friday, August 12 6pm Smokehouse BBQ, Millbrook FREE
The Smokehouse BBQ is one of the oldest restaurants in Millbrook. They feature live music several nights a week, and an open mic on Thursdays. Singer-songwriters are their favorite, and they are stoked to have Edward in for his first homecoming show!
Saturday, August 13 7pm MAMA Over Montgomery Showcase (RSA Tower, Montgomery) $15 advance/ $20 door Tickets
The Montgomery Area Musicians Association works hard to promote local music throughout the River Region. This annual showcase brings together 5 bands from 5 genres for an evening of music high atop the tallest building in Montgomery. They will be outside on the patios while Edward keeps the music flowing in the ballroom. This video explains more.
Thursday, August 18 7pm MAMA 3rd Thursday Jam at Railyard Brewing Company, Montgomery FREE
Edward is the featured host artist this month. After he performs, the mic will be open for any and all musicians to sit in and jam!
Find more info on the Shows page.

Edward has released a 4-song EP, Estrangement, on Bandcamp! These are the very last songs he recorded before he left Alabama, literally days before the move. Get Estrangement here!
(Estrangement is not available through the store on this site due to the digital format.)
****************************************************************************************************************************************************
New music is coming very soon! Edward and Bud Brown had a very productive recording session at Higher Ground Studio recently, and the songs are currently being mixed.
****************************************************************************************************************************************************
Edward played the Moonlight on the Mountain Open Mic Finals in Birmingham on January 12 (competing with all the winners of the past six months), and won! The grand prize is a recording session at Higher Ground Studios, so there will be NEW MUSIC soon!
He plans to record in the next few weeks, and he has already chosen the songs for this digital-only release. Why digital? Physical copies require more elements for production, not the least of which is time, and that leads to the next bit of news. This will be his last release in Alabama.
Edward is relocating to Massachusetts where he will attend college. We just received confirmation that he will be going in February. He is very excited for this move and his academic future, and wants to reassure everyone that he will still be writing songs and performing as often as he can. He is looking forward to working in a different music scene and hopes that more fans will be able to get to shows.
We apologize for the short notice, but this does mean that the show this Friday, January 15, at Black Market Bar & Grill, 5 Points, Birmingham, will be his last scheduled performance in Alabama. He will be playing with Taylor Hollingsworth starting at 10pm, so please come out and bring your friends!
Thank you for your continued support!

In a nod to that event, Edward just released his first original holiday song, Rainy Christmas, on Soundcloud. It is available as a free download, his gift to you in this season of giving. Find and download it here.

Edward won first place in the Emerging Talent Showcase at Blast on the Bay in Port Saint Joe on Oct. 15! He took home a cash prize, several gift certificates for Guitar Center and media promotion, and he will have a recording session at From the Heart Studio! He also won a slot in Sunday's (Oct 18) writers round and jam at Indian Pass Raw Bar, and is guaranteed a performance position at next year's Blast on the Bay. Congratulations, Edward! If you're in the Florida panhandle area, please come out Sunday night and show your support. The writers rounds are free to attend!

Blast on the Bay is the Florida Gulf Coast's premier boutique songwriter's festival, and all events are free to attend. This is their 7th year, and the festival will take place October 15-18 in Port Saint Joe. For the first time, they are kicking off with an Emerging Talent Showcase on Thursday night, and Edward has been invited to perform with nine other acts. This is a competition, with cash and cool prizes on the line, including studio time for the 1st place winner. Come out and cheer him on!

One of Edward's favorite venues, WorkPlay Theater in Birmingham, is once again holding it's popular singer/songwriter competition. Beginning Monday, September 28, Singer/Songwriter Series 6 will welcome performers to compete for trophies, prizes, and $1000 for the top winner. As the winner of Series 2, Edward has been invited to kick off the opening night, and he's excited to see the terrific talent that comes from all across the south to participate. If you're in the area, drop in and vote for the artists - there's no cover, and the votes accumulate up to the finals. Show starts at 7pm.
****************************************************************************************************************************************************
Just a reminder, Edward is still collecting votes on ArtistSignal.com. If you have been voting for him, thank you! If you don't know what that is, ArtistSignal.com is a site meant to not only promote musicians, but pay them, too. It's free to join, then search for Edward. You can vote for him, and any other artist on the site, once EVERY HOUR, so up to 24 times a day. It's easier than you think - you can download the free app and click the vote button whenever you open your phone. The artist with the most votes for the month gets $10,000 to further their career. The rest of the artists on the site split $5,000, based on their votes. It's a great way to give artists some extra cash while listening to their music, and you can even leave a tip if you'd like.

Do you have your tickets yet for the WorkPlay Singer-Songwriter Winners concert on Saturday, May 9? Just $15 for an evening of music from not only Edward, but his friends Zach + Cheyloe, Jackson Capps, and Jess Meuse!
Zach + Cheyloe are a fun duo, with great harmonies and lyrics. Occasionally reminiscent of Johnny Cash and June Carter, their songs are playful, sassy, and will get stuck in your head. Both play guitar, bu you'll also hear cajon and washboard. There's no denying they're having a blast when they perform, or as they call it, "creating a ruckus".
Jackson Capps has been playing guitar and singing since he was eight years old, began performing in public at nine, and made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 12. He's only 15, but he's already co-written and played with many of Nashville's finest. Come see the young man who will surely be the new face of country music.
Jess Meuse, the darling of Slapout, Alabama, and 4th place winner of 2014's American Idol, knows full well the value of her roots in the South. Firmly grounded by family and friends, and staunchly supported by her Muse Mafia, Jess is in high demand, performing seemingly everywhere at once. From singing the national anthem at an Auburn baseball game, to packing out clubs in California, Jess is continuing to make her mark on American music.
****************************************************************************************************************************************************
Saturday, May 2, Edward will be joining Jess Meuse and Cam Spinks from 4 to 7pm for an afternoon of music and fun in Prattville, AL. Advance tickets are still available! More info here.
Also, next Saturday, May 9, more Edward and Jess fun at the WorkPlay Singer-Songwriter Winners Concert. Details here.

****************************************************************************************************************************************************
Coming up Saturday, March 21, Edward will be playing at The Musiq Mall in Birmingham, AL. It's a late set, starting at 10pm, and we're hoping that means some of our musician friends will be able to come by after their own gigs are through. Bring in Sunday morning with us!

The details are confirmed, and the first date in a new city is booked.
When? Saturday, February 21, 7-10pm.
Where? The Vine, 501 Main St., Nashville, TN!
We're very excited for this and would love for all of our Tennessee friends to stop by so Edward can play for you!
As a side note, big hugs and a huge load of love and thanks to Hope Cassity for all of her help! She's amazing, and is also a fantastic singer-songwriter. Check out her music here. The next Tips for Tuscaloosa show is Wednesday, February 25, with special musical guests, Penny Rae! Join us!
Human Nature is now on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc., and we're ordering more because you guys bought all of the physical copies! Thank you!
We've had a request to add lyrics to the site. As soon as we figure out the best way to present them, we will. As lovely as the melodies are, it really is the poetry of the songs that make them so wonderful.

The Bottletree Cafe show with Bobby Long and Rachael Roberts was terrific, of course! Edward played a lot of songs from Human Nature, along with a couple of other favorites. It was great to see so many fans come out, familiar faces as well as new ones.
You can now hear Born for Blues on Pandora! We're working to get more of Edward's songs added as quickly as possible.
Lost has joined Candy For Bread Map on iTunes, for those who prefer downloads to physical CDs. Human Nature to follow shortly!
Friday, November 21, Edward will be participating in an educational workshop for kids in 6th - 12th grade, presented by the Montgomery Area Musicians Association (MAMA) and Wishbone's Studio. Edward, Jess Meuse, and several other members of MAMA will be presenting and demonstrating instruments. It's a free event, which will culminate in a jam session of the musicians and any of the kids who would like to join in. More information here.
Edward has quite a few local dates lined up in December, including a Christmas parade December 6, several nights during Montgomery Zoo's Christmas Lights Festival (dates and times TBA), and Jess Meuse and Friends Christmas Concert on December 23 at WorkPlay Theater in Birmingham.

The new CD, Human Nature, will be released on October 18! Now that it's over and no longer a secret, here's a bit more info about those private shows in Texas - if you happened to be one of the lucky folks who were on the Sofar Sounds subscribers list for either Austin or Dallas, then you were there! Those were Edward's first Sofar (Songs from a room) shows, and the audience reactions were wonderful. The Vinyl District reviewed the Dallas show and said some wonderful things about Edward. Read it here.
One of the best things about these three Texas performances was seeing familiar faces at each of them. Thanks to those who came out and supported the music!
Next up Edward will be playing locally for a change - he'll be in the Embassy Suites Atrium at the piano bar on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 7-10pm in Montgomery, AL, so if you're in town, please come by!
Coming up in October will be a performance at the Autauga County Fair Music Fest on the 1st, and a show we're very excited for, opening for Bobby Long, with Rachael Roberts, at Bottletree Cafe in Birmingham, AL on the 19th! See the Shows page for more info!

Thanks again to Eddie's Attic and Von Grey for a terrific night! So many friends came out, some who even drove in from out of state. Your dedication and support are overwhelming. Thank you.
Edward just did a 10 question interview for Review Rhino! Watch for it on reviewrhino.blogspot.com.

Hope you've got your tickets for tonight's show with Von Grey at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA! Edward is very excited to play with them again, especially on their 'home turf', and where so many fantastic musicians have performed.

Edward's show with Von Grey at Buford Community Center was amazing. The center is fairly new, the theater is beautiful, and the crew who worked that night seemed to have as much fun as we did. The call to confirm him on the lineup came just a couple of days before, so he wasn't on any of the promotional material, and the audience didn't know there would be an opener. Still, they were attentive, and not only did they enjoy Edward's music, but they even liked his jokes!
He'd spent most of that day on vocal rest due to a cold, which worked out beautifully that night. Unfortunately, he woke the next morning with no voice and a cough, which forced him to cancel his portion of the Luau and Bar 31. He's almost back to 100% now, and is ready to play Moonlight on the Mountain's Open Mic Finals on July 14. The winner will receive studio time and services to record 3 songs, as well as a radio interview.
July 24 he will be performing at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA, with Von Grey. Check the Shows page for tickets and tell your friends!
******************************************************************************************************************************************************
The Tips for Tuscaloosa 'Pups on the Patio' was fun and the dogs in attendance seemed to have as much fun as the people. The next T4T event will be July 23 to benefit Nick's Kids, and will again be held at Billy's Sports Grill in Northport. Edward is already signed up to perform.
The Gulf Coast Country Music Festival Tour has sadly been cancelled. However, other opportunities are popping up all over and he's staying busy. He has been playing all over central Alabama lately, at the Montgomery Area Musicians Association (MAMA) monthly jam, a Birmingham art gallery, and a couple of open mics. He's playing the annual Parrothead Charity Luau (his fifth year), and has just been booked at Bar 31 in Birmingham for June 30.
Our friends from Atlanta, Von Grey, have invited Edward to play with them for two upcoming performances in Georgia. The first is June 27 at Buford Community Center in Buford, and the second is July 24 at Eddie's Attic in Decatur. Be sure to check out these extremely talented sisters on their website at www.vongreymusic.com.
More information and ticket links are on the Shows page.

Monday nights are Singer-Songwriter nights at WorkPlay Theater in Birmingham again this summer. When he does perform, it's an opportunity for him to play with a band behind him, and occasionally, jam with the other performers. Sign up is at 6 pm (CST), performances start at 7.
Tips for Tuscaloosa hosts monthly singer-songwriter rounds to benefit local charities. Wed., June 11, Edward will be performing with Phil Dudley and Hope Cassity in the second hour of the evening. Show starts at 5:30 pm (CST), $20 donation suggested at door, to benefit the Humane Society of West Alabama. Link is on the Show page.
The Gulf Coast Country Music Festival show originally slated for June 14 in Orange Beach, AL, has been rescheduled for July 5, in Biloxi, MS. This means Edward will be performing at the festivals two weekends in a row! More info coming soon.

Open Mic Finals and Singer-Songwriter Circle
On May 5, Edward won open mic night at Moonlight on the Mountain in Birmingham, earning a spot in the finals on July 14! MotM is a great venue and a true listening room. He is very excited to play there again, and will be performing there on June 1 along with Raquel Lily, Michael Cannon, and Andy Harris.
Shelby County Arts Council hosted their first Singer-Songwriter Circle on May 18, featuring Phil Dudley, Hope Cassity, and Edward. It was the first time Hope met Phil and Edward, but their musical connection was phenomenal. They played individually, telling the stories of their songs, and then performed several of their songs together. More than one listener called the show "absolutely magical!" Hope had so much fun, she invited Edward and Phil to join her in June for a show in Tuscaloosa. Greg McNair of Regional Musician got some great video of the three of them performing I Won't Let It Go Away. Take a look on the Videos page!
Even more shows are in the works, so check out the tab for dates!
